My journey begins quite close to home, in the Vosges region of France, where the Eurofaeries have recently bought land.
Folleterre (the new Euro Faerie Sanctuary) has been in my mind for many months now.
Daisy, Notre Dame and I set off from Lewisham in South London at three in the morning, on Saturday night. Such a late start was a great for traffic but not so great for our collective common sense as our careless roofrack ropework left my tent somewhere on the road between Calais and Reims.

The drive was long, and VERY bumpy in the back of Notre Dame's landrover. We finally reached the property early evening on Sunday. The last few miles took us up a steep logging road, through beautiful pine woods.
We had arrived a few days before Summer Gathering began, to prepare the land and house for a week of celebrating queerness with faeries from all across Europe.
This was my first trip to Folleterre and I wasn't disappointed. Acres of pine forest at the end of of logging road, with a fine and substantial farmhouse. All lightly dusted with a spinkle of Faerie love.
 | My first few days were quiet, as people arrived from all over Europe (and two from the USA). And what a gathering it turned out to be! Several days of glorious sunshine left my new friends and I like beached whales on the wharf of the local lake. We swam, smoked and danced. We walked, and cooked and shared our feelings in daily heart circles.
Many wonderful connections were made. |

I joined my first drumming circle, which although small (there were only three of us) was spine-tingling.
A kind and gentle few days spent with several lovers also inspired me to take a new faerie name: Hospitality Suite.
We danced in the woods, made love in the moss, shared stories and hugs round the fire. Sweet sweet hospitality indeed. | |

Perhaps most importantly of all, however, was the experience I gained of queer community. Real, manifest, European, queer community. Folleterre has been so many years in the making - dreams, plans, work and achievement of so many Eurofaeries. It's an inspiring achievement.

I hope to be able to throw some of my energies in the years ahead into this direction - perhaps working with Firefruit on warmer, more fecund, Mediterranean Faerie Space and/or natural building at Folleterre.
